# Load

Load fixture data into the database.

### Syntax

```
$ vela fixtures load
```

This will load fixture data into the database from the `data/fixtures` directory. Fixtures are loaded in alphabetical order and prefixed with a number to ensure a deterministic loading order, so collections that depend on others come later.

[Seeds](/seeds/load) load first — fixtures can reference seed records.

[`vela test:server`](/test/server) loads fixtures into its own database automatically; this command is for the one you develop against.
